Restaurant refurbishment
Restaurant refurbishment where J&S Electrical Installations were approached by a previous client to assist in opening a new branch of their existing restaurant brand. This was a design-and-build project where we had to value engineer to meet budgets while still delivering a reliable and high-quality electrical installation. The installation focused on future expandability and reducing ongoing maintenance costs.
Scope of works included:
- Initial verification and load calculations for the new design.
- Installation of a new distribution board and upgrading the existing board to meet current regulations.
- Complete design of small power final circuits and layout.
- Full design of lighting layouts, lighting control, and emergency escape lighting.
- Coordination with HVAC engineers and consultants to supply power to new or repurposed units.
- Testing, relocating, and recommissioning audio equipment.
- Design and installation of specialist safety systems, including:
* Emergency stop buttons to isolate high-risk electrical appliances.
* Integration with the fire alarm system to shut down power to high-risk appliances during fire alarm activation, disconnect HVAC equipment, and activate all emergency lighting.
-Commission and test, provide certification, as-built drawings, and a detailed manual to assist with future maintenance of the installation.
The restaurant refurbishment project has been successfully completed, delivering a reliable and cost-effective installation to our client. The scope of works included:
• Installation of a new three-phase distribution board to support additional circuit requirements.
• Design and implementation of small power circuits, including three-phase supplies for pasta boilers, a dumbwaiter, and HVAC equipment.
• Design and installation of general lighting and emergency escape lighting; front-of-house areas are controlled via an efficient Lutron system that allows easy configuration by restaurant managers using a tablet or iPad. This reduces reliance on specialist attendance for future adjustments to lighting scenes or settings.
• Alteration, testing, and commissioning of the pre-existing audio system.
• Full commissioning of the electrical installation, provision of certification, logbooks, as-installed drawings, and a comprehensive operations and maintenance manual.
• Presentation of a competitive maintenance contract designed to ensure ongoing reliability and to maximise the client's long-term investment in the property.
The project was completed within budget and on schedule, resulting in a highly satisfied client.
